Hundreds of thousand people had lost their lives in the Indian Ocean Tsunami tragedy on 2004-12-26. The incident also affected six southern provinces of Thailand along the coast of Andaman sea, namely Phang Nga (Khao Lak), Krabi (Phi Phi), Phuket, and to a much lesser extent, Ranong, Trang and Satun. Too many people have lost their lives, many were hospitalised. But many more have to suffer consequences of the tragedy. Number of casualties in this natural disaster might compare to losses in a bloody war.
IMPORTANT NOTES
This tragic event hit South Asia in a sudden. None of the system had been prepared. Information poped up on an ad-hoc basis, making consolidations and finding information so painsteaking. Confusion and panic were all over the place. If you cannot find anything in our search engine, please visit http://missingpersons.or.th/ (located in Thailand) and register any information that might help finding the person possible including pictures and dental X-ray films. This database has resolved a third of missing people cases.
Go to Main Entry, be sure that you understand the current situation and next steps.
